~Awakeri School~

~Top School 2009~

This year we had two teams, a year 7 & 8 team and a year 5 & 6 team. Both teams did very well and came 5th in their sections. Here are a few photos:

Here are our two teams... and the cheerleaders.
The seniors had Stitch in Time first. Caleb and Kurt led the team through in an excellent performance, with Samuel doing a brilliant job at the back. The juniors worked very well as a team in the tough Magic Carpet Ride event. Luisa lines up the drums, Cabhain poles the carpet and Nicole looks after the water.
We were pretty bad in the Horizontal Bungee. Kelsey looks all good and balanced in this throw though. Quest struggles up in the juniors' turn at it.
Savannah concentrates on her throw. In the Castle event we did well. Here's Kurt with a good bucket of water about to empty it into the drum.
Olivia powers off the slide for the seniors. In the juniors turn, Tiaan sprints well across the slippery surface.
In the lunch break, the Whakatane Top Town team had a go on the Carpet Ride. Here's energizer Christian Wetting bringing a drum around. Whakatane are through to the Top Town final on TV. Let's hope they win! It's all over. Whakatane Intermediate were the over all winners, with Te Teko second.
The day went really well, a huge crowd, and plenty of money was raised.
