~Awakeri School~

~Top School 2008~

Our team was: Brittany Harder, Elaine Taylor, Shannon Mower, Jaime Clark, Jasmine Hope, Caleb Robertshaw, Nimai Carrington, Ari Wilson-Porter, Kurt Turpie and Renko Barkema. The reserves were Reme Barkema and Caleb Sheather.
Our cheerleaders won their competition and the team came 4th. Congratulations!!

On Friday and Saturday, before top school lots of parents and kids helped set up for Top School. Our awesome Top School team are on the 'Stitch in time'. This activity involved them threading their 'needle' through obstacles, as many times as they could in ten minutes.
Our cheerleaders are showing off their winning style. This is Brittany cheering on our team. 'Sliding down a waterfall, landing on a cactus...' Here is Nimai on the horizontal bungee trying to throw the softball into the barrel.
Jasmine's sliding down the slide on the Watchorns castle. Our team got the highest score in this event. Here is our team on the 'Magic carpet ride'.One person needs to push their team along, while the rest of the team moves the barrels along in front of them.
Jamie's on the 'Up, up and away'. She's being pulled from one end to the other catching balls and then throwing them in a barrel. Her hardest job was trying to turn in the uncomfortable flying fox seat to catch the balls being thrown to her by Ari. Kurt's concentrating hard on the horizontal bungee, throwing his softball into the barrel.
Our enthusiastic cheerleaders did really well, winning the cheerleading competition. Kayleigh represented our cheerleaderleading team and received the trophy. GO AWAKERI!!!Congratulations to our top school team who came fourth in the competition, beating heaps of other schools! From back to front: Renko, Shannon, Brittany, Jaime, Elaine, Reme, Nimai, Ari, Jasmine, Kurt and Caleb.
Here are four of our five cheerleading boys, (from left) Thomas, Aaron, Bleyne and Jalen. YOU GO BOYS!! The cheerleaders did a great job of cheering on our team. They won the cheerleading competition after weeks of practice with Miss Taggart and Mrs Purches.
