Speech Contest Finals 2009

Winner: Kurt Turpie
2nd: Zachariah Fretwell
3rd: David Klein Ovink
Finalists: Jennifer Cram, Josh Klein Ovink, Zac Fretwell, Abbey Patterson, Kurt Turpie, David Klein Ovink, Kelsei Ingle and Shjara Dakin

Here are our nervous bunch of finalists, waiting, waiting.... Look at those faces, but they are suddenly transformed when they get up to speak (just as well eh Abbey)!Josh challenged us about whether David Beckham is a healthy role model.
Shjara used her posters well to help get the message across.Kurt was very entertaining with his manner of speaking, story telling and his use of movement. He talked about the dangers of being a couch potato and what to do about it.
The judges Peter Sheather, Alison Barr and Jill McLeod are being entertained. There in the back row of the crowd is one of many ex-pupils who turned up to listen. Fiona was a finalist last year!David used a strong accent to help get his anti-sugar message across, as well as some great facts, like how many Kg of sugar we all eat and how many push ups we'd need to do to use the energy!
Kelsei used her props, lunch boxes well to talk about healthy eating. Now it's all over. Judge Alison Barr gave everyone some great feedback and presented the certificates.
Reigning champ Zac came close to winning again, only losing out narrowly to....Kurt, the 2009 winner. It was a great night. See you next year!
