Awakeri School

Awakeri went to watch the fantastic RNZAF Central Band perform at Trident High School in early February.
It was very cool.

The show started with a brilliant performance on a rubbish bin! Soon the large crowd was right into it.
'Bruce' told us a funny story of a tune that he couldn't escape from. He left NZ, only to find it being played in other styles around the world. The drum corps played in perfect time and they never smiled once. Well, maybe, once.
Oliver Richmond was lucky to be picked from the crowd of 900 kids to conduct the band. He got to wear the coat with long tails and wave the baton too.
The rest of the crowd conducted too, when the conductor wasn't looking!

First oboeist Lena sang beautifully too. Adrian was quick to get up, when she invited people to do hiphop while she powered through "Crazy In Love".
We all thought the Central Band were AWESOME!!
