Awakeri School

Room 8 camp 2013

We are at the dinner area at Bushhaven Camp. Miss Robb was talking to us about the native plants. We are at the bunk house, looking at the river.
We are doing river crossings. We had to put one step in front of us first, we held onto each other. This is Iziah, Corban and Lara. Miss Robb is telling us to pair up going across the river. Kieran, Isaac and Cody get ready.
Now we are building bridges. We had to make it out of three pieces of wood. It had to be steady so we didn't fall off. Charlotte broke it!!! In this group are Taya, Sammy, Charlotte and Isaac. We are making bivvies. We used sticks. rope and a tarpaulin. Mark, Tangiora, Corban and Danielle are nearly finished.
Amie is moving her mattress into her tent. There were seven people in the tent. Jack has got his burger for dinner. Kayla is getting hers.
Mia is holding a river spider. It was big as. Wer saw another one at camp, it had babies. Iziah has a turn holding the spider, or is it holding him!
It was freezing cold in the river. We were jumping off rocks. Corban is tubing down the current.
Kieran is tubing along as well. The water here was over Miss Robb's head, so we felt safe to jump in!

Cody holds his nose while he jumps.

Over all it was a really good camp. Amie's best part was doing the 12 kilometre walk. Beth's best part was... the burma trail. There was a baby possum in a tree that was woken up by all the torches!
Thanks to Amie and Beth for their captions.
