Awakeri Olympics

2008

In march the countries! Oh Canada!! We were all split up into ten countries. Kenya is the home of great runners.
Finally the host country China. Matthew is the flag bearer. There was an entertainment section in the opening ceremony. Here are the dance troup.
Nikoli and Vanessa read the Olympic oath on behalf of all the athletes. Here are MCs Jesse and Reme, and Mr Fitz making sure everything goes well. Holly Davis ran in with the Olympic torch. After a couple of goes, the Olympic flame was lit!
After a week of fun events, like wrestling, egg and spoon races, target shooting, tug of war... now it is the closing ceremony. Here are the MCs Georgia and Jessie. Here are the medal bearers....
A few of the winners.... The year 5 boys.... Joshua, Nikoli and Tiaan. The year 6 boys.Caleb, Isaac and Sam.
The year six girls: Aroha, Holly and Shjara. The year 7 girls: Kelsey, Kelsei and Jenni.
The year 7 boys: Dean, Samuel and Zac. Let's all sing the NZ national anthem.
 
Finally, the oldest and youngest students in the school let go the helium balloons: Daniel Brown and Reme Barkema.
