Awakeri School

Year 7 & 8 Science Field Trip
Ohiwa Harbour 7 April 2005

Here we are in the mid-tide zone at the Ohiwa Harbour. The groups have marked out their 1 square metre. They are busy counting and identifying the plant and animal life. Leah looks a bit worried about what Danielle sees in their group's square!
Mrs Lowndes helps Steffi and Vikk see how tall an aerial root of a mangrove actually is Steffi has a close look. See the lines of aerial roots that go many metres out from the mangroves.
Terri-Anne and Kate have a close look at a mudflat snail. The snails make funny lines in the mud as they eat their way along! Matthew Bateson shows us the small lobster that he found.
