~AWAKERI SCHOOL~

Maths with WHS student teachers Sept 16 2011

Toby Taylah
On Friday we had a group of Whakatane High year 9 students come to do maths with Room 12 and 14. Lots of the WHS student-teachers were our ex-pupils. Here's Toby working with Vincent. Taylah is helping Bailey do his activity.
Millie
Everyone had to do lots of measurements, trying to work out their "elegance" ratios. Here's Sammy measuring Kayleigh. After all the measurements were done, all the group's information was put onto a full size body shape. Millie is being used as her group's model. Stay still Millie!
Moana Nikki
Moana is rather freakishly getting up from her body shape. Nikki teaches her group, including Bleyne and Jordan what they have to do.
Sophie Aroha index finger not
Sophie is busy helping her group too Meanwhile, Aroha gets a little confused about which one is the index finger. Hmmm, is it this one?
In the end Joshua put all the results into box and whisker graphs. He did a great job teaching the whole group what the graph was showing. Here are some of the group with their life sized displays. Well, I guess we're all life sized aren't we... Holly and Aroha look happy to be back at their old school for a few hours.
Moana Merry
Here's one group's results, put together in colourful, entertaining fashion. Nikki and Sophie decorate the front of this group. Many thanks to all those WHS students and their teachers. It was great, from when Simone did the introduction, to Aroha doing a karakia, to Joshua summing it all up. Maths was fun!
