Matariki 2015
Rooms 6 & 7

On Friday June 19 Rooms 6 & 7 were at school early, to have their Matariki celebration day. The brazier kept the chill away. A warm breakfast! Kate Vahua enjoys her kai.
Milan's dad is helping Asha Van Veen make a kite. Ari Henman gets some help from his dad. Kieran Robinson is busy with his one too.
Sophie Growden is weaving a plate out of flax, to eat her baked potato off. Leon Mahy is getting on well with his plate. It only took him a few minutes.
Caden Ahu is near the front of the line for a potato. Sam Smith and Eben Moffat are eating potatoes. Yum!!
Now they are at Thornton Beach. Dylan McCormick Johns made this sign. It's Matariki!! Raukura Dixon, Effie Rangi-Temo and Te Rina Phillis are doing a sand sculpture.
Ari, Tejay Robinson, Charli & Kieran Robinson made the sun. Asha, Brooke Nolan & Rhiane Byers made a girl with a dress on that said Seven Sisters.
Asha is trying to fly her kite. Yes it flies!! Cole Broadmore is successful. About five or six kites flew well.
Everyone had fun fishing off the Thornton Wharf. It was fun for a while, then people had troubles like their lines getting stuck, or breaking! Tayah Prince is getting help from Sarah McQueen. Tayah's mum is taking a photo. Ari has caught some seaweed!
Eben tries standing up to catch a fish. Other people are lying down or kneeling.
