Kids Lit Quiz World Finals 2012

On Wednesday 4 July Awakeri School, representing NZ won the World KLQ finals in Auckland.

Blazers! The latest fashion! Wow, we're in the Beacon!
Half an hour to go. Don't the girls look smart in their blazers. A new school uniform? Hmmm maybe not! Katy and Jessie read the preview on the front page of the Whakatane Beacon.
Introducing.... Awakeri

Ready to go Reporter interview
Awakeri are poised to make a flying start.... Authors. Yes we gain an eight point lead in that round. Left to right: Katy White, Hannah vander Horst, Jessie Schuler & Jess Robbie. It's half time. After five rounds, Awakeri have a five point lead. A reporter from the Sunday Star Times wants to know all about it.
We think we've won Canada
It's all over! We know we have won by 9 points! Margo White, Ann Petersen and Peter Fitzgerald just manage to stay in their seats. You know if it was a football game they'd be sprinting onto the field! In third place... Canada. Well done!
The scoreboard is above their heads. NZ 43, South Africa 34, Canada 30, Scotland 25, USA 22, Australia 19.
The winner is.... New Zealand aka Awakeri
And in first place....Katy and Jessie get to their feet... Aotearoa New Zealand. The prizes are given out. "Hmmm my $400 will make a start on a laptop," thinks Jess.
