Kapa Haka 2007

Pictures from the Rangitaiki Festival

Here we are getting ready for our turn on stage. Liam's got a moko from his koro. Karaitiana's mum kindly drew it on for him. Siri gave Leonie her moko. We had lots of supporters. Here's our principal Mr Fitz, a wannabe haka performer, with Ollie, TJ, Karai and Stanley. Pukana!!!
Tino ataahua! Our kaitataki kotiro Leonie, with assistant leaders Kere and Renee. Liam came 2nd over-all with his whaikorero about this being our tenth year in the festival. He did an excellent job!
Now we're on stage. Leonie and Liam lead from the front. Liam has just finished his speech and Leonie is starting off the waiata koroua. "Taku rakau eeeee..."
Now the boys are at the front for the haka: " Tau ka tau...aaaa hi!"
The girls did a great job of the poi...."Maranga ake, nga iwi whai mana..."
Now we're finishing. The leaders do the march-off. Go Renee!

Liam has been leader for FIVE years, now he's off to high school. Kia ora koe Liam!
Leonie and sister Katherine have both been leaders, tena korua!
Siri salutes them with a pukana. Tino pai rawa atu to mahi Siri!

It's all over for 2007! Siri is very proud of the group. So she should be. They were excellent! Leonie and her proud mum Christine, a staunch supporter of the group. Tino pai!
