Awakeri School

Year 7 & 8 Intensive 2015

In the first day, the year 7s had leadership training so they can lead the school well next year. Team building first...Keegan Jones and Caden work together to try and build a tall tower. Hayley Schuler, Ryan Mapu and Inderpreet Aujla build a strong base.
Leadership practice. The year 6s and 7s read to the juniors. Here is Manaia Brooking with some keen junior boys. Sharaya Rangiaho has got her juniors well tuned in.
Next up the year 6 & 7s had to organise and teach their juniors how to play a game. Riley McDonald, Cate Robertson and Joshua Brown are encouraging their juniors from rooms 2 & 4 to play Rob The Nest. Katie Growden and friends are playing Awakeri Rulz. Katie tackles Nate Bishop and Bailee Lawrence tries to stop her!
In the afternoon, the year 7s got to work on being house leaders next year. They created new signs, flags and chants for their houses. Here are Matthew Reihana-Asquith, Troy Wilson, Jessica Bell and Alex Cameron working on Tawa's new flag. Rimu's flag is coming along well, thanks to Lucy Knott, Brodie Nathan, Inder Aujla and Keegan Jones.
Meanwhile..... on the first day the year eights were in Whakatane doing a number of things. First up was indoor basketball. Here is Kaya Hodson shielding the ball from Callum McNeil. This is Shark Attack. Rylee Looney is getting dragged under the water by a shark. Shayna Penberth is trying to save her.
Next up was boot camp. This was a side skipping sprint. Here is Mr Fynn doing the commando crawl. The next day he could hardly walk!!
After that the year eights relaxed in the Aquatic Centre. Robbie Perkinson and Marco Turner chill out. Of course the hydro slide was popular. Here is the queue to slide down. Nice pukana Tessa! I hope they can read the sign!
Noah Robinson got safely to the bottom. More safely than some of the girls! On the second day the year 7s all went to Thornton to do team building games. The year eights could choose between the skate park and pa site or golf. Gene stands up on his skate vehicle!
Lilly Du Toit and Rylee get a helping hand from Tessa's mum. Amelie Clements and Nicole Curtis ready... set...
Look out Keeley Lawton, Stacie Martin is about to launch you!! Meanwhile, at Te Teko the golfers look ready for some good golfing.. Noah, Phoenix, Marco, Reaf and Jana.

Ranui Maui-Peck addresses the ball with good style.
