On 27 & 28 November we had the year 7 & 8 intensives, to prepare the leaders for next year and to reward the year eights for their contribution.
The year sevens started with some team building. Because of the massive run of injuries lately (mostly in room 14!) they first had to create a splint from some cardboard and tissue paper. |
Then they had to carry their 'patient' (this is Keeley) safely past the obstacles. Nice headbands guys! |
Next up was a challenge to build the tallest tower. Sadly all the towers collapsed at the crucial moment and were less than a metre high! |
Valerie scratches her head "I can't even reach the top of this now" |
Next up the year 6s joined the year sevens and read the juniors some books, and organised games for them. Manaia is doing a good job with his group. |
Callum has his students tuned in. |
Ryan even puts body language into his reading! |
After lunch the year sevens created new flags, signs and chants for their house next year. Tawa's flag looks.... blue. |
Caleb looks happy with Rimu's new sign. |
On the Friday, most of the year eights went to the skate park, then Tauwhare Pa site, then they joined the year sevens at Thornton. The day was wet and cold. Finn is sliding his way up out of the bowl. |
Two of the cripples, Corbin and Korben, watch from their crutches, hoping noone else would join the wounded list. |
You can see how wet, and therefore, how slippery it all was. Sarah is negotiating with Matthew! |
Under a palm tree and an umbrella.... Ngaio, Possum and Tylah. |
These guys got very brave in the wet conditions: Jacob, Quintin, Matthew, Finn and Ryan. |
Tauwhare Pa. |
Archaeologist Lynda Walters talks to the group about her work and the pa site. |
Poor Linette. Why do they build pa site on hills?? Jenae, Lucille and Taryn lend a hand.
Then the rain set in! |
