Year 7 & 8 Intensive 2011

 

On the first day, the year 7s and year 6s did leadership training exercises. One activity was reading to the little kids. Here's Jared reading to Liam and Amie.	Mekaela is enthusiastic, as always, reading to her five year olds. Pihopa and Kade are enjoying Spot Goes to The Farm. Later Mekaela and friends taught their kids Stuck in the Mud and Seaweed. The little kids thought it was really cool.
Taine, Kodi and Manjot are teaching their group Bat Down. The batter is sprinting to the base.	They also organised games to teach the juniors. Here are lots of juniors playing games with Year 7's. Most of them had a good time.
Jesse is about to tackle Sune in a game of Bonzo Ball.	After lunch, the year 7s got things ready to be house leader for 2012. Jess and Jayden are working on the new Rimu sign. All the signs and flags look really cool. They will be used at assembly next year.
Meanwhile, the year 8s were in Whakatane doing indoor sports, a boot camp and then a swim and hydro slide. Daniel, Shane, Jordan and Josh are at the Aquatic Centre. Shane smashed his front tooth on the slide!	The Year 8's are on the bus from the Aquatic Centre. Looks like it's been a fun day. Nikoli and Kyla sit behind Abbey, but in front of Jade and Dillon.
On the second day, the year 7s did team building activities at Thornton. Liam is struggling to carry Sam and Sharnaye in the Gumboot Challenge. They came 2nd. Team 1 won it.	Jenna, Centreece and Christian are tipping water into the Holey Bucket. They won this challenge.
Teams 1 and 2 are doing the Tyre Challenge. Neither you or the planks could touch the ground and you had to get your whole team up the hill. Team 2 won.	Team 1 doing one of the challenges. It was really hard to manoeuvre the bucket around the trees. Team 4 won this.
Team 2 doing the Hula Hoop game. It was hard to get the Hula Hoop round your whole team, especially when there are 2 hoops going in different directions, but they were pretty good at it.	Meanwhile, the year 8s have either gone to golf, or to the skate park/pa site trip. Ashleigh, Wiki and Jade are at the skate park. It looks like the cardboard beat them down the hill!
Cabhain lands his scooter on the rim of the bowl. Dylan is impressed!	Dillon rides his bmx up and over the nipple.
Mean time, Georgia is playing shops. She has a general store that sells anything!	Ashleigh the customer is trying to think of some other random things to buy at the store! Ravneet knows all about shops! Can I have some contact lenses pleases? Have you got Kung Fu Panda Movie number six?
Jade is not for sale, she is showing her sliding vehicle.	The Black Kumaras attack!
Now it's the other team's turn to attack!	This is Mr Hawkes at Tauwhare Pa. Hmm, who pushed him over?
Eventually the year eights joined the year sevens at Thornton. They had fun swimming, water fighting, relaxing and playing in the sand.	Even though the tide was out, there was still plenty of water to have fun.
Lila the mermaid! Her kind creators: Jessie, Moana and Millie later poured water over her head while she was trapped there! Well, she was a mermaid I suppose!	At Thornton, Daniel got buried in his sand by his friends. They also turned him into a mermaid!
