Awakeri School

Year 7 & 8 Intensive 2007

On day one the Year 7s read to the juniors and played games. Here is Jaime reading a story to her junior kids. Here is a year seven keeping Kalani focused on the story.
Here is Jasmine reading and getting to know the juniors. The juniors are listening to Nimai reading his storybook.
Brittany and Jacob are teaching their juniors a new game. The year 6s joined the year 7s to read and play games with the juniors.
The juniors are playing 'Stuck in the mud' with Lily and Fiona. Here's Fiona running away from Lily. Meanwhile, the yr 8s are at Centre Sports. Here we have Guy about to throw the ball in netball.
Two teams are going after the soccer ball but where is it? Jemma has just bowled the yellow bowling ball. It's a blur!
Leah is saving the ball from going into the goal. Miles and Sydney are about to drop in to the Whakatane Skate Bowl on Friday.
Thanks very much to Kura Paul-Burke for these next few photos. They're great.
Stephen just cruising along, playing guitar at the skate park. Pete is making a well balanced entry.
Aimee gets helping hand from Zara and Kelsi Kelli on her mini deck.
The girls sometimes just admired the view! Kura has some cool levels of action in this photo, from Zara's imaginary moves at the top, to Meron looking lost at the bottom!
Joel and Sam lie down, trusting Taylah to safely jump over them with his bike. He does! Safer than Guy's go anyway!
Meanwhile, the year sevens were at Barrs' Farm doing team building exercises. This team is working well to get each other safely over the fence. A fun game getting safely to the islands.
Team work while blindfolded. Ari's group work at getting their water safely along the rope.
Meanwhile, back at the skate park, Mr H has caught.... Emma! Then it's on to the pa site. We learned about its history then played a mock battle! Room 12 attack!
Look out Stephen, Amy is after you! Joel and his fellow attackers look tired after ten minutes of do or die attacking!
And finally, everyone met at the Awakeri Hot Pools. For some, the battles just continued! Others just relaxed in the lovely warm water. This year no-one even came close to beating the record for sausages eaten! Next year's year eights Lucy, Jasmine, Reme and Fiona have had a good day.
