Farewell Peter Fitzgerald 5 July 2019

Mr Fitz has taught at Awakeri since 1983 and he has been principal for the last 22 years. Photos from our special assembly on his last school day.

The assembly opened with our wonderful orchestra, led by Mrs Derbyshire.	We heard the Call Of The Wild. Here are some of the flutes and brass. Sophie S, Samantha W, Ari H and Kieran R.
Our assembly hosts Trista B and Callum C introduce the quiz format of the assembly and call Mr and Mrs Fitz in.	Cathy and Peter Fitz sit on the couch of honour alongside Jade Rika who escorted them in. There were lots of parents and other family members at the assembly.
The seniors did a series of funny skits showing what Mr Fitz does all day. Early morning he (Tejay R) greets people arriving "Morning Rowey".	There were lots of laughs during the skits.
He (Summer J) talks at assembly.	He (Jake L) tells off people on the deck (Ollie and Kenna).
He (Ethan H) talks to students who need encouragement (Odin and Lucien).	He tells people to "Get on the bus!" (Max L, Cody P and Brad Y)
He (Joseph S) talks at Friday assembly.	He (Cole B) tells teachers to go home ( Milan L and Nathan RA) Nathan sings his little song "Peter and Cathy sitting in a tree..."
Various groups told about Mr Fitz's support and work. Here are the Kids Lit Quiz teams.	Jump Jam. Here are some middle school jump jammers, with Billy B and Kyle H M out front.
Singapore group. Joseph S talks on their behalf.	The junior school read a funny poem about Mr Fitz.
Top School. The cheerleaders do a funny item about Mr Fitz, then they get him up to join in. A W A K E R I...	Productions. Mr Hawkes led the school in two songs about Mr Fitz, sung to production songs. One from Mr Fitz's favourite show Windust and one from last year's show Robyn Hood Outlaw Princess.
The kapa haka sang a special action song about Mr Fitz and did a haka. The leaders were Zealia P (left front) and Jose R.	At the end of the quiz about Mr Fitz the contestants representing the houses found out it was a tie (like the cricket world cup final!) Holly R Tawa, Esther F Rimu, Aramia H Rata, Hannah W Kowhai. On the right are the two teachers who did a fine job organising the farewell assembly: Jaimee Maunder and Joanne Elliot.
Each class sent up a rep to give Mr Fitz a presentation.	Phoebe C gives Room 15's scroll.
Ben P shakes Mr Fitz's hand.	The presenters ask Mr Fitz for the last time..."Does Mr Fitz have any notices?" He did!
