It was a hot night, but a great celebration of the school's year and a farewell to our departing year eights and four teachers.
The orchestra started the night off with some lovely music. |
Some ex-pupils even came back to lend a hand, here is Hannah VDH on clarinet.
Scroll down the page to see the excellent drummer Alex Coventry (not in action)! |

Well it is a fancy dress night. There were lots of cool costumes. Everyone kept trying to turn Korben Wilson off, change his channel or even mute him! |
One of our departing teachers, |Sam Pendleton with two of her fancily dressed students. Good luck at Omanu Primary Miss P. |
Some costumes were a bit scary. Jack Father Christmas Young tries to escape from this faceless creature. |
A favourite is the Gay Gordon dance. Here are Chloe Howard and Mr Hawkes making the most of it. |
Another leaving teacher Naomi Courtney Tennent is heading to a job in Hamilton. She's been doing a great job teaching New Entrants here this year, but she'll be teaching seniors at her new school! |
Spin the Bottle was a dance where the seniors and juniors danced as partners. Brianna Smith and her young partner are enjoying themselves. |
Now we're onto the presentations. The year eights were farewelled with a few memories. This is Sharni Goodman receiving her leaving certificate from Mr Fitz, while her teacher Mr Hawkes remembers her being Sharni Gaga in a radio broadcast! |
The dance troup entertained us. Here are some of the younger members doing their bit. |

A number of prizes were given out. Mrs Merry is giving Alex Coventry (the drummer) the top PE award. Alex, Georgia Leonard Cobb (see next pic), Keely Forbes and Elana Spod received the highest award of the night, the Principal's Award. |
Georgia is an excellent soprano singer. She sang O Sanctissimo for the big crowd, unaccompanied. She and Caroline Paulsen looked very glamorous in their mums' wedding dresses! |
There were a few speeches. Lara Wills and Felicity Klein Ovink made an excellent job of speaking on behalf of the departing year eights. |
The year eights finished the night with a haka. Tika Tonu! |
