Karaitiana Edgar Smits - principal's award 2011
Maori Smurf, aka Karaitiana Taipeti. Tintin, or Edgar Smits, was given the honour of the Principal's Award. Well done Edgar!
Judi McConway, leaving for Christchurch
Teachers and students get into the theme. Judi McConway was farewelled as she is heading off to Christchurch. Judi did an awesome job as our computer technician and photographer extraordinaire. Good luck in the mainland Judi and family.
Heidi Parker Caitlin Heberley
Another staff member leaving was Heidi Parker. After seven years of great work Heidi is heading off to Palmerston North. She has been an awesome musician. Heidi conducts her final orchestra performance.. Caitlin Heberley plays flute in the orchestra.
Gay Gordons Ashleigh and Siri
It's that old favourite, the Gay Gordons. The seniors 'enjoy' the dance. Then they ask parents up to join in. Here's Ashleigh (Rata Girl) Tucker-Witehira dancing with Siri Riini.
Mrs Petersen and Jordan Andrew Dance
The glamorous blonde is actually Jordan Andrew. You can't see his great legs! He's dancing with Ann Petersen. All the age levels performed their dances to about 600 people in the audience.
Speech makers Georgia and Nikoli Senior dance troupe
Nikoli Christensen and Georgia spoke on behalf of the departing year eights. They spoke very well. Luckily Nikoli's dad had raced home and collected the speech which Nikoli had left at home!! Two dance troupes performed. This is the senior dance troupe. They were great!
year 8 haka
Finally, the year eights did a haka to acknowledge the school and community. Tiaan, Karaitiana and Lance did a fine job leading it, but everyone joined in and they were loud!
Haere ra year eights, haere ra, haere ra!
