Awakeri School

Interschool Cross Country

at Manawahe 27 June 2006

Even though quite a few runners were sick with the flu, we still did really well!
Click here for the results of the Awakeri runners

The starter's gun has sounded. The senior boys are off. Rhys puts his head down and David, Douglas, Brent, Stefan Chris and Matthew try to get ahead of the Otakiri runners. The girls ran well at the start of their race. Here they are passing some Awakeri supporters.
Alex Moore doesn't look too tired at the end of her senior race, even though she said she'd rather lie about her age and run in the midgets race! Kurt Turpie thought the hills were quite easy. Kurt came 1st in the 8 & 9 year boys. Congratulations Kurt!
When the runners were up the the hills some people amused themselves with a Mexican wave! Sam McPherson looks like he might need a break! He's coming down the final hill.
Danielle Le Lievre came first by miles in the senior girls run! Anita Hope finshed strongly.
Jemma Shaw did very well, coming 3rd in the intermediate girls run. She can even sing action songs when she's running down a steep hill! Selena Shaw put in a great run to come third in the senior girls race. She didn't need the ambulance!
Pete Dowden was the first Awakeri intermediate boy home. Why are you wet Madison???!
" I 'fell' in the water trough!"
Terri-Anne is sure footed down the hills. It's all over. Holly and Nikki wrap up warmly.
