Awakeri School

Powhiri for Craig McDonald 22 July 2019

Opotiki Primary School brought our new principal over to our powhiri for him. The weather was glorious, a good sign!

Whaea Andrea e karanga ana, calling our visitors onto the school grounds	The Awakeri pae, kapa haka and parents wait till the visitors are seated.
Mr Hawkes does a whaikorero to welcome the guests, and Craig in particular.	Awakeri students listen in the warm sun as Mr John also speaks for Awakeri.
Everyone backs up the speakers with a waiata.	Opotiki's kaumatua has spoken, now their waiata.
Mr McDonald does his whaikorero.	The hongi line, luckily not everyone was in it or it might have taken the rest of the day!
Mr Mac also met some of the parents who came along.	Mr Mac has a good memory for names. People were keen to tell him their names whenever they saw him!
