Hot Air Balloons
2009

The first balloon is off... Mr Sheather steadies the balloon so the flames don't catch the tissue paper alight. "Hold it still, Aroha!" said Toby. Toby is filling her balloon with warm air from a hair drier before the meths fuel is lit.
One of the failed balloons. Crash and Burn! What's the big deal about catching the balloon?!!! Well it's unusual that there was so little breeze that three balloons came back down and landed in the school grounds after they ran out of meths.
The suspense is huge! Will my balloon fly or will all my work be obliterated by flames. Joshua and Kelsei look nervous! The sun! It burns!!!!!
Well the sun was lovely, with frost on the ground, the cold air meant it was a good day for hot air balloons.

Some people thought that the burning balloons were more successful than the ones that flew. Come on, who doesn't like stuff catching on fire!

Have a go yourself. They're easy to make, just ask a room 14 person.

Is it a bird?
No.
Is it a plane?
No.
It's Superman!
NO! It's a hot air balloon.
Dude, I was trying to make it sound more interesting!
