Athletic Sports 2015

Scroll down for photos of the EBOP athletics champs

At the start of athletic sports Mrs Howard asked Kaya Hodson and Emily Robbie to set the attitude for our sports. Kaya won the first race, the open 1500 metres.
Lots of people had a go at the open longer races, the 1500 and 800m. Joseph Bateson has determination written all over his face! So does Cody Hall.
The field events produced some good competition. Here's Ethan Cavey launching the discus. Maci Bateson has good technique in the shot put.
Frankie Yerex and Ryan Peck watch as Bailey Le Prou throws the discus. Matiu Te Maipi is about to put the shot.
Tayah Prince leads out the field in the 5 to 8 year olds 800 metres. There was lots of competition in the open 1500metres race. Joseph Bateson (in the ABs shirt) came in 12th ahead of Joseph Spalding, Jamie Julian and lots of other people.
Hayley Schuler watches the vortex fly through the air. Luella Howe, No mistaking her house.... Kowhai!
Robbie Perkinson did well in his events. A tight finish in the 8 year old boys 200m. Jon Tiwha-Smith just beats Cody Parsons to the tape.
Dayyan Van Veen set two new records. Pihopa Wahapango waves Rimu house's flag enthusiastically.
Kevin Paulsen and Kaya had some great battles in the running. Luckily they were in different age groups in the field events. Bailee Lawrence wins the 800metres, with Bailey McDonald in second place.
The end of the sports. Mr Hawkes briefs the relay teams. Kowhai look happy. Let's hope they aren't being given a head start! Start of the relay. Isaac Clements leads (Rimu), with Amber Fort (Rata) and Rylee Looney (Tawa) and Dayyan (Kowhai) in close behind.
It's all over, a close finish, with Kaya getting Kowhai home from Robbie(Tawa), Jana Longney (Rimu) and Kevin (Rata). Mr Fitz celebrates as the teachers take out a 6 x 100m relay. We won't mention his tumble though!
The high jump finals happened the following week. Brodie Nathan gets into the air in the 12 year old finals. Seth Kushnirenko did very well in the 12 year boys, coming second.
Kevin Paulsen set a new record for the 12 year old boys with an impressive 1.47m. Jana Longney also set a new record for the 13 year old girls with 1.31m. Check out all our records here.
Ben Olifiers winds up in the discus. Great high jump style from Kevin Paulsen.
Jake Laurent total concentration in the shot. Some of those boys were big!!!! Kevin leads anyway!
The strength of Emily Robbie in the relays. Kaya Hodson sprints
