One hundred years since the ANZAC soldiers landed at Gallipoli.
Two of our senior students, Callum and Keeley, carry the flag, leading the school and the parents to the wreath laying. |
Each class laid wreaths that they had made, remembering the people who had been at Gallipoli and their families. |
There was a very big crowd of parents, grandparents and family members there with all the students. |
Now Keeley and Callum lead us to the steps of the Events Centre where we had the speeches. |
Miss Dowzall's brother Peter spoke to us about Gallipoli and also his time in the armed forces. |
Tayla Jones recited the poem Flanders Fields
"In Flanders Fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses row on row..." |
Nicole Webb read the Oath "We will remember them" |
Mrs Andrew's son Jordan played The Last Post, as the flag was lowered.
Hopefully we have learned good lessons from what happened 100 years ago. |
