Photos from the dress rehearsal at the Events Centre... The show opens with kapa haka. The haka is very powerful this year. |
Robyn Hood (Asha Stevenson) and Princess Pip (Bonnie-Marie Wetting) find out about each other, with Robyn's outlaws watching on. |
Pip has to beat Little Joan (Londie Lee Rika) in a fight to be considered to join the outlaws band. |
There are some cool songs in the show. Here are the outlaws singing Robyn's Rock. Jasmine and Mikayla, Phoebe and Sophie in front. |
The Sheriff (Jamie Julian) is not happy with two of his men being captured by the outlaws (Jake Laurent and Kennedy Annan). The Sheriff's dwarf (Summer Jones) makes fun of them too. |
The Sheriff's heavies sing "Move aside, we're the heavies, the heavy hand of the law..." Ethan, Josh, Kalib, Cole, Ty and Cody are in the front row. |
Director Peter Fitzgerald gives the captain of the guard (Marshall Foxx) some directions about his role. This show is Mr Fitz's 30th and final show! He was first involved in our school production in 1989 Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat. To see our history of productions, click here. |
Off stage we can see (from left) some of the orchestra (including trumpeter Jim Spalding, pianist Jen Hardy and conductor/guitarist Barrie Hawkes); assistant director and backstage manager Naomi Courtney-Tennent, director Peter Fitzgerald and one of the costume managers Carrie-Anne Dennis. |

Now it's show time... In the green room, make up is getting put on. Here is Mrs Dowzall putting Sophie Growden's on. Sophie is an outlaw. |
Some of the citizens are lining up for their turn... Brad, Mason, Odin and Rhys |
Asha puts her own make up on. She starts as a school girl, then turns into Robyn Hood. |
The curtains open. The kapa haka is on... |
The haka Te Puuru is amazing and very strong. Mitchell, Pacey, Ty, Ollie and Jamie give it heaps. |
The girls add to the volume and attitude. In the background you can see Londie Lee, Jade, Reghan and Brodie. Boys: Ty, Jamie, Jose Rika (our leader) and Jon pukana atu! |
Jade Rika, our girl leader, leads the action song. |
Reghan, Kenna, Sophie, Brodi, Inka and Phoebe light up the stage. |
Te poi! Mireirei ana. Lots of smiles and eyes from the girls! |
In between the kapa haka and the show (mainly to allow kapa haka kids to quickly get changed into their costumes, make up on etc) there was a very nice musical interlude. |
Now the show is on. The principal catches Robyn Howard and friends late for class. Robyn gets in trouble, as usual.... In her dreams, she is Robyn Hood. Guess who features as the sheriff! |
Princess Pip wants to join Robyn's outlaws. |
She has to pass the initiation test. Her arrow flies straight and true. |
Little Joan loses to Pip in the archery test. |
Robyn, Pip and Little Joan. |
The sheriff arrives with his dwarf. The sheriff has a dream within a dream! |
The sheriff is unhappy with two of his heavies. |
The captain of the guard gets his troops ready for action. Josh and Kalib are probably thinking of the jokes they will tell as entertainers! "My wife asked me to her pass the lipstick, but I accidentally passed her a gluestick. She still isn't talking to me!" |
Guanyu Liu did acrobatics as an entertainer. The crowd was very impressed! |
In Nottingham, the minstrel (Jessie Jones) sings a lovely song "The morning breaks and a baby cries..." to the citizens. |
The sheriff gets mean. He threatens the citizens into agreeing that Robyn Hood is guilty of lots of crimes. Sophie Peat does a good job on looking very unhappy at being made to say she is guilty. |
Part of a very capable little production orchestra: pianist Jen Hardy, trumpeter Jim Spalding, and three of the percussionists: Isak Tootell, Kieran Robinson and Joseph Spalding. |
