WHO ARE WE?

Room 12. Hmmmm what's something that describes room 12. There are 31 of us, year 7s and year 8s, but you most likely don't really care. It is term 4 and our intelligence is shining. Of course, with a teacher like Mr Hawkes, it's hard not to be the smartest and funniest kids in the world. Our teacher Mr Hawkes, don't worry he's not a hawk, he just stalks everybody with his beady eyes, is pretty cool and really loves soccer. Probably more than his class of wonderful and amazing children (SOB). This year's class REPs are Russell Sisam and Ngahuia Leighton. Our Reserves, in case Russell and Ngahuia come down with a deadly heart wrenching disease, are Tessa Rogers and Finn Kamphorst. They've done a great job and will carry on doing so. Everybody (I'm not going through the class list!) is definitely liking their school habitat that scientists like to call ......... ROOM 12! Scroll down for News, Childrens work and a Teachers message

CLASS NEWS

13/12/04
Hi..... It's going to be a full on week during the next 3 days ahead of us or even 5 days, because of the touch and soccer finales. Tomorrow we have fancy dress, on Wednesday the Seniors have their social and on Thursday there will be a huge water fight for the yr 5,6,7 and 8's. (B block and C block.) Anyway at the moment we are doing these cool graphic patterns. We got our reports the other day.
For fancy dress we're doing the gay Gordan, (like always) the American Promenade and the hip hop dance. Some people have still haven't got use to the gay Gordan yet but they'll get there....... Anyway nothing else is going on that is good at the moment but straight out hard work!

10/12/04 On Wednesday Kieran, our movie producer and his team didn't go to Manual. They stayed at school and refilmed the scenes of the movie they had accidentally taped over the day before!! Then Kieran, Michael, Russell and Zane edited Jeepers Creepers 4. It's all finished, there are even bloopers (surprise, surprise)! Tyler had a lot of trouble not smiling when she was saying something serious! Ben threw the 2L bottle of tomato sauce out into the shot, when he was trying to squirt blood! The premiere is next Tuesday.

06/12/04
Hi.... Things have been going well at the moment. We have manual coming up on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. For the year 8's well, most of us are on project number 6 and 9. The reason why I skipped out number 7 and 8 is because they both are numbers that don't have anything to do with science. That's what Mr. Derek said to us. Our class film is going well and the producers are doing a great job of getting everything together, but it would've been better if Tyler and I were in it....... Anyway we've been working on some magazines during the last couple of days and they're already on their way to being cool magazines to read. Today in the afternoon room 10 want to challenge us to a game of softball..... I bet you we'll win.... I hope!

02/12/04
Hey guys... and girls...... well it's coming to the end of the year and everyone can't wait until school is over! Well I can't! There's a lot of practising going on. This whole practising thing goes towards fancy dress. Also we're making a movie which is called "Jeepers Creepers" The producers are.... I'm trying to act like one of those introduction people anyway... The producers are... Kieran Perkins, Russell Sisam, Michael Greenwood and Tessa Rogers, well there was Tyler da Silva and Me (Amy) but we got fired so Tyler and I have to face the consequences of what we've done.......... oh well we don't care aye Tyler! Radio broadcasts have finished but Mr. Hawkes and Belinda still have to do theirs. That's all I have to say but Ngahuia might want to say something.... Nah. Bye!

Tessa sure knows what she's doing! Yeah, Right! What are they filming any way? Well what ever it is Tyler looks very interested.

15/11/04
Right now we are writing our self assessments for our school reports. Yes, you heard me correctly school reports. This piece of paper sometimes holds the power to determine whether our Christmas Holidays a full of chores or days at the beach. I'm sure our class will do fine though. As long as we spend the next couple of weeks sucking up to the teacher. Radio broadcasts are still going well. Today we will be listening to Tyler, Ryan and Joshua.

9/11/04
Our first few Radio broadcasts have been played. Finn, James and Zane read their broadcasts well and the class found them very entertaining. We've also started our plans to make our miniature model bikes. We will distribute them to the little fairy warehouse and make millions! Nah, just kidding.
Our sketches.. Were to be based on another artist's style. We drew a picture of Daniel Carter, some picture from home or Karen McDonald (Coronation Street, Mr Hawkes chose it). The portraits look fantastic, some a little different but very cool.

03/11/04
Today we had a great start of with Tyler playing her violin. Showing us what she could do.
She was great!! Tyler knew what she was doing, well with a talent like that she must know what she's doing...
The first song she played was The Flintstones, then Drunken Sailor. Look at Mr Hawkes, thinking he can beat Tyler at the violin when he knows he's going to get beaten... anyway well done Tyler..

28/10/04
Hi guys, I'm back! It's me, Ngahuia and I'm finally back at school.I had an awesome time in Europe but I'm glad to be home. Today Mr Fitz was really kind and gave us a new stereo. It looks more like a space ship or maybe a foreign bomb. I wouldn't be surprised if some unidentified objects will be seen floating above the school tonight. So, for anyone U.F.O watching tonight around Awakeri, don't worry. It nothing too dangerous.
We were also given a new camera for the C Block. It was bought with the money that our fabulous Top School team won at Top School 2003.

26/10/04
Wow! What a blast.... Just last week we had the marae stay. It was great! Well on the first day room 12 came, which is the class I'm in.... anyway.... Monday was alright. Well the second day arrived and it was good bye room 12 and hello room 11. It was time to go... RATS! It was a relief for me because I was going to stay for the 4 days. I'm stunned Mr. Hawkes didn't take me with him especially after my behaviour. Oh and on Tuesday Pera and I went shopping with Mr. Hawkes, Oh boy and do we regret that! YES.... Nah it wasn't that bad besides the fact that he started low-riding, went over the curve in the car park, started thinking he was all that, then went down the skate park and stopped right on the speed bump, tooting hard core.... It was so embarrassing... on the way back from the supermarket he went around the round about like about 5 times. He was thinking he didn't know which way he wanted to go. The next day we did the same............. Anyway on Thursday (the last day) the little kids arrived, it was going good until we got broken into groups. Pera and I got these cool little kids who obeyed everything. It turned out some of us did like having the juniors around because it gave us the opportunity of being like a teacher in some way. I would like to make some thank you's to: Sharon Devlin, Verna Falwasser, Mr and Mrs Hakiaha, Emerald, Bronwyn Kamphorst, Christine Jones, Andrea Maru, and Nancy Coppell
and SPECIAL thanks to Siri Rini and Barrie Hawkes for putting a lot of effort into this marae stay, if it wasn't for them there wouldn't have been a marae stay. You all did well and on behalf of all classes I would like to say THANKS!!!!!
Amy F

15/10/04
It's the end of the week and the marae stay is just days away. Heaps of us just can't wait till we go to the marae, well I can't wait because I get to stay for the whole 4 days! But Mr Hawkes is scared me and Pera are just going to giggle nearly all of the time. But that won't happen will it........ anyway... Pera and I are there to help out not to slack around ah Pera.....
This morning Mr Hawkes told some about the Pukeko marae history. It was cool because not very often you get to learn about a marae you don't know anything about. He just finished telling us this story which I think is very amazing. There is this statue of a chief with a cloak on who holds a patu in his hand. He was facing straight ahead towards the fence. But one day in 1987 when the Edegcumbe earthquake struck, he moved from facing straight, to turning on an angle towards the gate where people get called on. Mr Hawkes also said that some people believe that the earthquake was meant to happen, to do that. But then again, that's just another saying brought into the world.

12/10/04
Well.. 1 down a lot more to go. I mean now that ag day has gone we still have heaps of other stuff to look forward to. Nah ag day was great there were no problems (hopefully). This year we even had a demonstration from the police department about how dogs can attack fast and hard. There was a police man there telling a trained dog to sit, jump, turn around, bark etc. It was great because there was this one guy who had pads on his arms, came running out and started yelling his head off. As soon as the dog heard it he started barking and trying to drag the police man towards the person, so then the police man let him go. So that was the big domestic for the day. Not long after Mr. Fitz came running out and did the same thing but he went right down to the back and nearly got bowled over. Besides that last night they had the whanau hui which brought much attention to all parents. If you're wondering what a whanau hui is it is when parents come and discuss about what their children can do About how children can get educated if they join Kapahaka groups, Maori extension, taking Maori lessons in class, sports and many things that have nothing to do with Maori. They were talking about the school getting a wharenui and better uniforms for the Kapahaka group.
This is Belinda's opinion about Kapahaka. I think it's a great opportunity to learn about our Maori culture. You get to learn about the history beyond the Kapahaka group and the arts which are basically the poi and waiata. They also get the opportunity to learn how to speak Maori. Luckily Belinda went to the meeting and put in her opinion because it could have changed people's minds about Maori education.

4/10/04
Welcome back! We are now in term 4. How exciting! We have a lot of stuff on this term such as: Ag day, Marae visit and a lot more stuff that I don't know about because I wasn't listening to Mr Hawkes telling us what's on this term.
Anyway I'm sure everyone enjoyed their holiday away from school because I did.
This morning Mr Hawkes wrote a Maori waiata on the board cause that's what we're going to sing at the marae when we walk on. But I already know it... It's called "Taku Rakau" It's a common song. But we've still got 2 other Maori songs to learn. Later on in the term we will have to do a radio broadcast for the assemblies.
Our computers are on broadband now so the internet goes 10 times as fast "according to Mr Hawkes."
C ya's! This paragraph was done by Amy Falwasser....

17/9/04 We say good bye to Awhina today. We will miss her lovely singing, her creativity, her friendship and lots more.

14/9/04

Yesss Ngahuia's gone to America and Europe! Far away from here hopefully! Na just joking! I bet we're all going to miss her. She's been a real help..... but now I've got her job so I'm going to make the most of it while I've got the time. Kapa Haka was great. The whole group did their best and put their best effort into what we have been looking forward to for the last couple of months. I think we all did great though. We did make a couple of muck ups such as.... nah we won't go into the details now. Today we have the same as always.. We're doing current events now and then Te reo maori- plays, MATHS, Interval, reading, cricket reading, Draw a sketch, Lunch, Story, Art-portrait sketching..... BORING........ Nah I actually like art because I'm good at it. Well my time here is up I hope you enjoyed reading this paragraph that the best girl in the world wrote... AMY...Goodbye.. Not, Who do you think I am Mrs Leaver. Did you think you could get me away that easy well think again.. Nahh see ya's!

13/9/04

The Kapa Haka was so boring on Saturday, the crowd actually fell asleep. WHATEVER! The Kapa Haka was awesome we got third for our poi and waiata koroua and the crowd loved us. Mr Hawkes (along with everyone else) is very proud.
Today we are going to start writing some songs. We can either write about the operetta, the holidays coming up or Kapa Haka. Who knows we could have the next Michael Jackson in our class. Actually no I think I'll go with Usher, yeah, we could have the next Usher in our class.
I won't be back for another 6 weeks. I probably won't even think about this page though. I'll be having too much fun in Europe. Don't worry, Awhina will take care of everything and try not to mess things up. I've given her the "over protective parent" talk and I'm sure she'll do okay.

9/9/04
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to TYLER. She blackmailed me into saying that. Mr Hawkes gave out his homework awards today. Some people even got mintees but the actual winners got chocolate! Mmmmmmmmm this is making me hungry.
At the moment we are making some cool cartoon comics about the operetta.

3/9/04
Our class doesn't do anything. We play games all day. Yeah right! We've been so busy. Our poem study is well on its way. We've published our favourite poems (they look great) and now we are in the middle of publishing our poems that we wrote. We chose a poem and had to choose something from it, like the way it rhymes or the way it's set out, or what it's about. Next we wrote our own poem to do with that. Scroll down to students work to see some of our great poems.
We have been making cereal boxes with Mr Sheather every second Friday. They look great and very different.

1/9/04

Pinch and a puch for the first day of the month!!!!!

24/8/04 We have been quiet for the last two weeks. No it's not the floods. Our schools' computers are being upgraded so we can get fast internet access. Yay! By the way, the opening ceremony and the games went really well. Amy and Matthew were the MCs for the opening.

13/8/04
Room 12, being the most talented and responsible class. We've been given the privilege to set up the opening ceremony for the Awakeri Olympics 2004. It's fantastic. We've made banners, signs, flags and decorations. We are also going to have awesome entertainment including our fantastic dance group and even musicians. It's going to be great and we are looking forward to Monday 16th August 12pm (the opening ceremony).

6/8/04

4/8/04
I'm sooo excited. This afternoon we are going to the Awakeri Hot Springs. It's going to be a good relax after all the commotion of the floods. The entire school is going. The Juniors in the morning. The Middle school in he middle of the day. Then the Seniors (that's us) are going in the afternoon. Plus most of us have finished our Pick-A-Path stories. They look great and are great fun.

27/07/04
We put in loads of effort. Spent late nights hard at work. Now, the reward.
The entire senior school has taken part in the science fair. You could either do a science fair, a technology or a project. Finally the hard parts over. The testing and the conclusion and all of the displays. Now we just have to have an interview. AARRRGGGGHHHH! Scary. They're going to grill us. Even though Mr Hawkes says they are kind. I'm so scared. There is a prize giving tomorrow where we will find out where we come. Oh, I know I'm taking the gold! Good luck to every one else though. Second and third are still vacant.

20/7/04
It is Term 3 and of course you know that the date is the 20th of July, or you don't and of course if you don't or you did know, you might easily have Alzheimer's disease like me!! So, what kinda news do we have for ya today? Hmmmm! Well for starters there are 32 people in our class and only 18 turned up today! So that makes 14 that aren't here! Some of them have been evacuated, some sick and some flooded in! Well to give you a bit of detail on what happened. Awatapu Drive in Whakatane was completely flooded in and all the people living in the houses on Awatapu Drive had to be evacuated! An old lady was smothered in dirt because of a slip and very sadly she died. Tessa Rogers tells us what she saw: The 68 year old lady was clearing away a small slip in her back yard when a bigger slip came down and covered her and most of the house. The mud was like porridge, there were a few trees and branches. She died. Yesterday her body was found.
The unfortunate events that hit Whakatane have become headliners in the newspaper, radio and television. We should all be donating money to the Mayoral Relief Fund that Helen Clark started. She got it up and running with a $20,000.00 cheque for Whakatane and Opotiki. There were many more tragedies like earthquakes!
Oh by the way today's news was done by (drum roll)...........Awhina Soeters! I told you that because I think that Ngahuia wouldn't like me calling her an Alzheimer. Alzheimer's is a disease that makes you forget things!

2/6/04
Oh My Gosh! You have no idea what it was like. The fire. The danger. Your probably wondering what on earth I'm talking about. Well today we decided to have a go at flying our Hot Air Balloons.
Test 1 failed as there wasn't enough methylated spirits.
Test 2. This is the massive one. It failed dramatically and caught on fire. This floating bomb landed in a ball of flame on the ground. Don't worry no one was hurt but I have a severe psychological disability because of it. Of course this is because I was away in the morning. How sad.
Our Pick-A-Path's are pretty much finish finished. They are so cool. They should be, after we put so much energy into it. Last Day! YAAAAAYYYYYY! Oops, I forgot that We're all going to be busy doing our science fair all holidays.

28/06/04
For the last couple of weeks things have been really hectic. We've got all sorts of things on such as Science fair projects, Speech finals, Manawahe cross country and other things going on around the school. We have got a new student in our class his name is Kenneth. It's also Zac's Birthday today so we're wishing him all the best and hope he has a great B-day..... Our ads are nearly finished all we're doing now is editing them. There looking great so far!! We've already seen Matthew, Ryan and Cody's one about new "FASHIONABLE" boots.... Cool..

23/06/04
Mathew, Cody and Ryan are the first ones to finish their ads. We have been doing these ads for a while and they obviously haven't been yapping like the rest of us. No, just kidding. We've been great kids doing everything we're told. Do you think Mr Hawkes believed me?

22/06/04
For art lately we have been doing Youth Week pictures. They look so cool. We send them off to a Youth Week compition. We hope one of ours wins.

18/06/04 CONGRATULATIONS!!! To Matthew Reeves from RM 12 who has made it into the Speech- Finals. His whistle blowing techniques and identity change to Coach Physical obviously won the judges over.
How did you find the Semi-Finals?
"I found that the Semi-Finals were kind of nerve wrecking but as I kept going, it started to get less scarier."
What are your thoughts on the Speech-Finals.
"I'm not as scared as the semi-Finals because there won't be as many people. I'm just gonna do my thing!"

14/06/04The speakers have spoken. The children have watched. The Judges have judged and now the results are in. I'm talking about speeches, by the way and we now know who has made it into the semi-finals. You'll have to use your imaginations for this one. Imagine a big stage with glowing lights and of course an APPLAUSE sign. All the way from Room 12:

Our First Contender (drum roll) - A bright and perky chap with a speech to go with it. James Holani Everyone!
Next on the list (drum roll)- A guy who just doesn't know how to close his mouth. Matthew Reeves. Give him a round.
Third time lucky, We hope (drum roll) - He's a very artistic fellow. Robert Sonntag!!!!
And finally the most fantastic of them all (over the top drum roll) - ME!!!!! Ngahuia Leighton.

APPLAUSE!

12/06/04We are in the midddle of speeches and they are looking fantastic. By this afternoon we might know who from Room 12 will be going on to the semi-finals.

28/05/04Today we say good-bye to a wonderful girl in our class who is leaving today. The whole class is very sad and so is green peace. You can imagine how many tissues we're going through. We're going to miss her a lot and hope that she has a wicked cool time at her new school.

Today Mr Sheather has started us making hot air balloons. We are having a great time. We were given a sheet of instructions and then we were let loose with pink tissue paper! With this deadly force we got into groups and have started making our hot air balloons. Mr Sheather takes us every 2nd Friday. We have lots of fun doing technology and other cool stuff.

We have started writing our speeches. We have chosen topics and have been given guide sheets to writing these speeches.

Guess what guys! I've decided that I want to make a new section on this page. Scroll down and you'll see!

14/05/04Today we are off to a Whakatane High School production, Back to the 80's. We are really excited especially because we miss school. Not that we want to miss school. They're making us go. It is soo horrible the things they make us do. Anyway I'm sure we'll have fun at the show.

13/05/04Today we're at manual. We have 16 guitars in our class and yesterday we all learned how to play D!!! There are all sorts of topics for our TV advertisements. Tyler is even going to make an ad about her dad's workshop. With some trick camera work it should be the best in New Zealand!

26/04/04 We have all returned well rested and eager to get into our work. We will be writing pick-a-path stories, having a speech comp, entering a science competition and going to manual.

7/04/04 The camp photos are here. They're cool, or should that be refreshingly chilly!

5/04/04 What a week! We just got back from our Rocky Valley camp on the edge of Kati Kati. It was a lot of fun. We arrived on Tuesday at our destination. We settled in to our new home then set off to Kati Kati. We did Orienteering around Kati Kati. It was reeally fun. When we returned we had a go with some of the camp activities. We went down to the water hole and had a go with the air rifles. We all agree that the water hole was FREEZZZING!

Wednesday~~~~~This was what I like to call the gold day. First we visited the Martha mines. Where we picked up our guide, Amanda. She told us about the Martha mines. Then we went to the Waihi museum. It was a lot of fun. When we got back to the camp we had a turn on the go-carts and the big water slides.

Thursday~~~ First we went on a terrifying walk through the Kaimais. There we meet up with some pigs. They just walked straight up to us. After that we went to Sapphire Springs. At night the mock court had judge McCardle and executioner Kamphorst handing out some pretty mean punishments.

Friday~~ We went to Waimarino. It was a water park. We went on a kayak down the river. We had a go on the peddle boats, ultra high, diving boards and tarzan swings. Then we returned home after a brilliant trip.

24/03/04You will never believe what I just heard! The school is planning to release a stampede of wild African animals on our camp. Can you believe them. Wait a minute. I haven't told you about this camp yet have I? Well I better get to it. We are going on a camp to Kati Kati next week. We will be staying at Rocky Valley Camp. We are so excited. We will be visiting the Martha Mines, Waihi, Waikino, Kaimai Bush walk, Sapphire Springs and much more. We are so excited and can't wait to head off on our four day camp to ROCKY VALLEY!!

18/03/04 HEY GUYS!! We have just had our last session of Life Education. The big classroom on wheels came with teacher, Shirley. This year's subject was Internal Affairs. We learnt about the inside of our body and how drugs, alcohol and cigarettes have a very bad effect on them. It turned out to be a lot of fun and very educational.

16/3/04 The drummer from Ghana Eddie Quansah put on a great performance for us today. The talking drums, the finger piano, the xylophone, they got us all moving and clapping. Some lucky people got to have a go. Today we started reading selected bits aloud from our reading theme on The Sea. Matthew Reeves and Finn went first. Life Education is tomorrow and Thursday.

9/3/04 It's March already. Can you believe it? Our class actually know each others' names and have made lots of new mates. And boy are we excited about camp. It's coming up soon. We will all be off to Katikati to have an awesome time. We have just finished our study on rocks. We have started our new study on The Rocky Shore. We went on a trip to Otarawairere bay. We studied rock pools and had an awesome but cold, swim. We have brought all our information back and are putting it all together. We have two girls in our class that are in the top school team and we want to wish them luck this weekend at Top school.

26/02/04 Yesterday was soooo cool. We had our senior school fun-raiser. It was awesome, the rest of the school (the customers) loved it. We have raised heaps of money which will go towards our camp.

Chum Bucket___$136.90 ------------Bad Boys__$35.60---------Players Palace__$24.30

Mr & Miss Awakeri__$127.30-------Awakeri Idol__$30.20----------Wrestling__$17.40

Our Class TOTAL: $362.05

23/02/04 Today we did experiments on rocks, classifying them, testing how hard they are, etc. See Kate testing a rock, scroll down.

20/02/04 Today has been sooooo boring, you know with all the top school team results and the great weather! The topschool team is really lucky to have TWO people from our fantastic class. Congrats to the two girls whose hard work paid off.

18/02/04 We are soon to be billionaires. Well maybe. In our class we have been practicing with money, so when it comes to the fun-raiser day we will be prepared.

10/02/04 Our fun-raiser is well on its way. We have named accountants advertisers and manufacturers who went to meetings today to learn about these areas.

5/2/04 We have been having lots of fun. Especially since Miss Wilson has been in our class in the afternoons. Miss Wilson, when you think about it, is the hero of our class at the moment. She fell off her bicycle and STILL decided to come to school, even with her injuries. But of course it's pretty obvious why ( she just couldn't keep away from us). At the moment we are doing a venn diagram about the difference between science and technology.
We have sorted out our groups for the fun-raiser. The reason for this fun-raiser is to raise money (duh) for our camp that will be taking place later this year. YAAAAAAA!!

4/2/04 Congratulations to Tessa Rogers, Finn Kamphorst, Ngahuia Leighton and Russell Sisam who have been picked to be house leaders this year. We are really proud of you guys (even though we know it was rigged) and think you will do really well.
We are really into our ROCKS study and are learning about different types of rocks. Such as Igneous.

29/1/04We have a new study ........ Rocks and we are really excited about Stonehenge and the Earth's System. We have thought of all sorts of different things for our new study.
What would you do if you got told to turn your family into koru? I only have to guess your answer. I mean not everyone related to a witch or wizard. But our fantastic teacher who just has to assume, has assigned us to this incredibly tough task. Or did he? Actually (which we found out later) we had to draw on a piece of paper with colour pencils (not in thin air with a wand) and draw different korus to represent different people in our families. They look awesome. I'm sure they're going to really brighten up our room, and this page. Next week they will be here on this page just for you.

THE WITCHES SPELL- Kiwi Style

Rubble, Rubble in a bubble
Put it in and cause some trouble
In the pot, goes fillet of fish
To make the most patriotic dish

Feather of kiwi and fur of dog
Needle of Rimu and bumbles string

TWO HIKERS

Two Hikers went up a mountain
They were very strong
That's good
No, they took a fall
Oh, that's bad
No, they weren't badly injured
That's good
No a bear smelt the blood
That's bad
No they had a gun
That's good
No, it was a capgun
Oh, that's bad
No, It scared the bear away
Oh, that's good
No, that's bad
Why?
It caused an avalanche

I'VE HAD THIS HAT

I've had this hat
that was made out of mats
for years and years and years

I wore it to town
and it turned brown
But it's okay
cause it used to be grey
for years and years and years

TWO RAFTERS

Two rafters went rafting
Their rafts were very fast
That's good
No, that's bad. They crashed and fell out
Oh, that's bad
No, the water was shallow
Oh, that's good
No, that's bad. The rapids were fast.
Oh that is bad
No, they had life jackets
Oh, that's good
No that's bad
Why?
The didn't have them on
OH!

Here comes Mrs Soeters
RUN AWAY CHICKENS!
Run on the wet grass
Put on some slippery soap
Slip slop down the slide
Up the ultra high
As I crawl I shake with fear
Down down I go... splash

TEACHER'S MESSAGE

Kia ora everyone. This has been a very enjoyable year. I am proud of the way Room 12 have produced quality and creative work. It is sad to say goodbye, specially to our Year 8s. Many of the Year 8s have made excellent contributions to our school, and should do extremely well off at their various high schools. Special thanks to Ngahuia for making a creative and fun Room 12 web page and also the School news page. Thanks too to Amy for helping her, and to Sarah for her work on the news page.
Have a good holiday everyone. Come back and visit us next year!

Stuff You Don't Need To Know ...But I'm Gonna Tell You Any Way

IT'S November which means that the David Beckham calendar hanging above Mr Hawkes's desk has a fresh face. David wears his hair with spikes and loads of shooze, a green top and a.....beard? Anyway there is actually a story behind this calendar. Mr Hawkes just happens to be obsessed with him, AS WELL. Mrs Hawkes gave their son the calendar. The son refused this calendar referring to it as "girly". (as it is). So Mr Hawkes being the kind person that he is kept it for himself. Then he put it in our class so we have to stare at this "soccer player" all day.

Room 12 had some cool pages in the past too, look at 2003 or 2002.
